Association of Mayors, Councilmembers and Commissioners (AMCC)
The Association of Mayors, Councilmembers and Commissioners (AMCC) is an affiliate organization of the Texas Municipal League (TML). The purpose of the AMCC shall be to promote the proficiency of elected municipal officials and encourage and improve the cause of good and efficient municipal government in the State of Texas.
The membership of the Association shall be composed of mayors, councilmembers, and city commissioners serving in TML member cities in the State of Texas. Only elected municipal officials from TML member cities shall be entitled to vote at AMCC meetings, and each member shall be entitled to one vote on all matters.
AMCC does not require membership dues.Any elected official from a TML member city can participate in AMCC activities and in the TMLI program.
AMCC Board Election Process
The AMCC Board holds elections each year at the annual TML Elected Officials Conference.
Those interested in being nominated for AMCC Board positions must meet the following criteria:
- be an elected mayor, councilmember, alderman, commissioner, or any other member of an elected municipal governing body, currently holding office in a TML member city;
- have a minimum of two years of elected service; and
- demonstrate an active interest in TML and AMCC activities.
The president, first vice president, and second vice president shall serve terms of one year each, said terms to commence immediately upon adjournment of the annual meeting of the Association. The first vice president shall automatically become president and the second vice president shall automatically become first vice president at the conclusion of his/her terms of office. The director on the Texas Municipal League Board of Directors shall serve for a term of two years, with a maximum of four years for any one person, said term to commence immediately upon adjournment, during odd-numbered years, of the annual conference of the Texas Municipal League.
