Certification for Elected Officials (TMLI)
TMLI Update - Special Consideration During COVID-19
The Texas Municipal League and the Texas Association of Mayors, Councilmembers and Commissioners have made adjustments to the CEU requirements for the 2020 TMLI program. These adjustments were made in light of the current meeting restrictions aimed at slowing the spread of the coronavirus:
- The maximum credit for recorded training (webinars, videos, etc.) is increasing from 14 CEUs to 28 CEUs for any online or recorded training that complies with TMLI standards.
- The Certified Municipal Official (CMO) designation will be awarded to anyone who reaches 54 CEUs (instead of the current minimum of 72 CEUs). Two hours of open government training is still required to receive CMO designation.
- These considerations are only applicable for the 2020 TMLI award year.
The Texas Association of Mayors, Councilmembers and Commissioners and the Texas Municipal League encourage elected officials to learn about their governance roles and city government through a variety of educational opportunities.
