Urgent Updates
What is the latest on the next round of Congressional stimulus
for cities and what can mayors do?
Congress is currently discussing a $908 billion stimulus package
proposed by a bipartisan group of Senators that includes $160 billion in
direct and flexible aid to all cities regardless of size. Ideally Congress
would consider and pass a stimulus package this week before they break for
the holidays but no timetable has been set for passage.
Mayors who would like to sign on to this letter urging Congress to pass additional flexible funding for
cities should email Alexa Aragonez with the City of Arlington at alexa.aragonez@arlingtontx.gov by Tuesday,
December 15, at 3:00 p.m.
Even if you choose not to sign on to the letter, we urge you to
reach out to your member of Congress to thank them
for their leadership on the CARES Act and for passage of any additional
stimulus measures.
